Week7

Microsoft word is the first program among many categories of Microsoft office which we have learnt in this week. Actually, I have used it several times for my assignments. However, there are many functions else including in Microsoft word that i had not known. Before that, I had only used Microsoft word for typing my assignment. From now, I have known a new function of Microsoft that is designing poster. This is really new for me and I felt very excited to learn. We can even insert and edit photos in this program, instead of using other applications. Moreover, we can use shapes, pictures and so on. 

Microsoft word includes many components such as document window, Ribbon, Mini toolbar, shortcut, menus and Quick Access Toolbar etc... From those things, we can easily create many types of personal and business documents including flyers, memos, resumes, reports, mailing labels and etc.

Besides that, we had an exercise that was creating a poster. This exercise was done during our tutorial class. That was very pleasure task; we have practiced more about Microsoft word, moreover, it did not make us boring.

Week5

This week, I have learnt a very helpful topic that was about MS windows. Especially, my lecturer has shown us many advantages in windows 7 which I am using right now; however, there were many applications in Windows 7 that I had not known before. From this lecture, I have collected more knowledge about MS Windows; especially in Windows 7.

Microsoft created the operating system, Windows, in the mid-1980s. Windows is aproprietary software, which means that Microsoft has placed restrictions on how people can use or copy the software. It comes preloaded on most of PCs sold today, and can also be purchased separately.

WINDOWS 7:

Main elements of Windows7:

• Aero view.
• Taskbar.
• Search.
• Libraries.
• Gadgets.

Windows 7 is an entirely new interface comparing with windows XP. In windows 7, they developed “Libraries” to make “finding your stuff” easier. Libraries are collections of your stored content that can be easily accessed through the Desktop Search function.

 

 In Libraries, you can use “Tags” to improve Search result.

Libraries also have “automatic default save folders”. And you can change the default save folder by selecting “Locations” in the “Tool Bar”. 

There are various folders with their functions available in windows 7:

·         -Windows Special Folders: application data, cookies, desktop directory, favorites, fonts, history, internet cache, local application data, my documents, my music, my pictures, my video, programs, recent, send to, start menu, system, saved games, templates.

·         -Virtual Special Folders: Recycle, control panel, desktop, drives, internet, my documents, network, search results, printers.

·        - Some of Special Folder Object Lists: AIIUsersDesktop, AIIUsersStartMenu, AIIUsersPrograms, AIIUsersStartup, Desktop, Favorite, Fonts, MyDocuments, NetHood, PrintHood, Programs, Recent, SendTo, StartMenu, Startup, Templates.
