Week2

This week, we had been very interesting to know about computer history and also categories of computers. Actually, I’ve already learnt about this while I was studying in “introduction to information technology”. However, it was still very interesting. There are 5 generations of computer:
  • ·        First generation (1940-1945):: vacuum tube.
    ·         Second generation (1950-1964):: transistors.
    ·         Third generation (1964-1974):: Integrated Circuits (IC).
    ·         Fourth generation (1974-present):: VLSI/ULSI.
    ·         Fifth generation (present and the future).
         However, we were added more information. That was about computer Architecture, Computer Processing Power. Besides that, we also learnt about categories of computer. There are 6 types: Embedded computers, Mobile devices/computers, Personal Computers, Midrange servers, Mainframes, Supper computers.

    Moreover, I also learnt about system unit ( is case that contains electronic components) and the components of it. Central Processing Unit (CPU) was introduced in this lecturer. Specially, I learnt about RAM and ROM and some types of them.

    We were shown a lot of images such as: Input (pointing devices, game controllers, digital cameras etc), output (printers etc...) and types of storage.
