 I’ve completed my first trimester with “information technology”. I am now very excited to study about “computer and internet”. In the first week, I have known many new classmates and also lecturer. We have been transmitted the rules in class by our lecturer and also the LOs for this subject. From this, we will try to cooperate with each other during this trimester.

First of all, I learnt about computer. It includes the concept, the component (software, hardware), and also the characteristics (speed, reliability, storage, communication etc…) of computer. Besides that, I also learnt about the computer operation that I have learnt in the court of introduction to information technology “the basic operations that a computer can perform: input, processing, output, storage, and communication”.

In the other hand, i also learnt about the decimal number (base 10), binary number (base 2), octal number (base 8) and hexadecimal number (base 16). Moreover, our lecturer also taught the way to convert from decimal number to other. That is use division method. Conversely, when we want to convert others (binary, octal or hexadecimal number) to decimal, we must use multiplication method. However, to convert from binary to hexadecimal, just group the binary digits into groups of four; from binary to octal by using groups of three bits.

We also had many exercises to practice these methods. Maybe, I am good in Math, which is why I feel very interesting to do those exercises. However, I also must practice more and memorize to recognize each kind of number it is.
