“The typical ways of networking computers” is the topic that
I have been taught this week. Firstly, we have been shown many videos related
with that topic. It was about computer network (it is simply a group of interconnected
computers). The major components of a computer network: communication Media,
Interconnecting Devices, Computers, Networking Software, Applications.
A computer can be able to communicate with others to convey
human message through networking. Computers share access to common network
medium that carries signals from one computer to another. Medium may also be
wireless.
Moreover, the videos also showed us types of network. There is
LAN, WAN, MAN, Peer-to-Peer Networking etc. I also have taught to distinguish each type of
those networks.
LAN- Local Area Network: in the same physical location, or
that spans a small area such as a building or an office.

WAN- Wide Area Network: spans a wide geographical area. There
are several types of WANS: Metropolitan area network (MAN), Public access
network (PAN), Value added network
(VAN), Virtual private network (VPN).
Peer-to-Peer network: all computers are considered equal. It
is inexpensive and easy to install.
Server-
based networks: is easier to scale. It may handle thousands of users.
Client/Server Network: network services are located in a dedicated
computer whose only function is to respond to the requests of clients. The server
contains the file, print, application, security, and other services in a
central computer that is continuously available to respond to client requests.
